Vibrant Hues of Rock: Steffanie’s ‘Pink Noise’ (K-12522)
Today we revisit the work of Steffanie Borges, known as Steffanie, focusing on her second studio album, “Pink Noise,” released on the Warner-Pioneer Corporation label with the catalog number K-12522, promo/sample pressing with obi.
Issued in 1986, this 12-inch vinyl LP followed her successful 1985 debut, “Hideaway.” “Pink Noise” continued to build upon the sound established on her first album – a polished and energetic blend of hard rock and pop rock, driven by powerful guitar work and Steffanie’s strong, melodic vocals. Produced again by Keisuke Tsukimitsu, the album maintained a high level of production quality suitable for the era.
Similar to her debut, “Pink Noise” also had connections to the world of anime. It notably features the track “Rock The Planet (Rock Me Baby),” which was used as an insert song for the anime film “Urusei Yatsura 3: Remember My Love,” strengthening her association with the popular franchise (her debut album contained the main theme).
K-12522 captures Steffanie further developing her sound, delivering another collection of catchy, well-produced hard rock tracks infused with pop sensibilities. It represents a solid sophomore effort from a talented vocalist active during the vibrant Japanese rock scene of the mid-80s.
