Let’s explore the first solo outing from one of Japanese metal’s most iconic frontmen: “Koushoku Yorozugoeotoko” by Kogure Den’emon (better known as Demon Kogure of Seikima-II). This CD was released on April 21, 1990, via the Fitzbeat / CBS/Sony label with the catalog number CSCL 1124. This particular copy includes the original obi strip.

Released while Seikima-II was at the height of its power, this album marked His Excellency’s first major solo project. It offered him a platform to explore a much wider range of musical styles than his main band’s heavy metal.

“Koushoku Yorozugoeotoko” is a famously eclectic album, diving into J-pop, straightforward hard rock, and various other genres, all while retaining his unmistakable vocal prowess. The 12-track album features a diverse collection of songs, including “Sakura no Mori,” “Half Moon,” “World Network News,” and “Chikyu Senshi Frillman” (theme for an eponymous show).

This CD (CSCL 1124) stands as a fascinating and important release. It showcases the broad artistic range of Demon Kogure outside the demonic “kyoten” (scriptures) of Seikima-II, offering fans a unique look into his personal musical interests and versatility.
