A special “best of” EP from the early, pop-idol era of Lazy is the focus for this entry. We are looking at “Lazy Best 4,” released in 1978 on the RCA label with the catalog number RVS-3068.
This 7-inch vinyl is part of the “New Golden Coupling Series” and uniquely plays at 33 ⅓ RPM to accommodate its four tracks. It gathers some of their earliest hits, capturing their polished, mainstream pop-rock sound from their debut period.
The tracklist includes:
A1: Moero Rock ‘n’ Roll Fire
A2: Akazukin-chan Goyōjin
B1: Camouflage
B2: Hey! I Love You!
This release is a fascinating snapshot of Lazy’s initial pop style. It is especially significant for collectors as it features future heavy metal legends Akira Takasaki (Loudness) and Munetaka Higuchi (Loudness) performing in a completely different genre, long before their heavy metal revolution.
