A significant early release from Japan’s premier all-female hard rock band, Show-Ya, is the focus for this entry. We are looking at their second single, “Shidokenaku Emotion,” released on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with the catalog number WTP-17819.

Issued on February 1, 1986, this 7-inch, 45 RPM single marked a crucial step in the band’s career. It was their first A-side to feature a song composed by a band member, showcasing their in-house songwriting talent.

The single features two tracks:
A: Shidokenaku Emotion
B: You Can Dance

Both songs were composed by the band’s keyboardist, Miki Nakamura, and notably, both were arranged by Show-Ya themselves. The A-side features lyrics by the famous Reiko Yukawa, while the B-side lyrics were penned by powerhouse vocalist Keiko Terada.

WTP-17819 is praised by fans as a “nice” record, perfectly capturing the band’s signature style: a powerful, “thick-boned” hard rock sound from the all-female lineup, combined with Terada’s clear, “beautiful” vocals. It’s an essential snapshot of the band’s developing talent.
