Let’s explore the second studio album from Japanese female rock vocalist Megumi Hayakawa, titled “Cinderella Syndrome.” Released on June 29, 1985, this 12-inch vinyl LP was issued on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with the catalog number WTP-90337. This particular copy includes the original obi strip.
Arriving at a prolific pace after her 1984 debut, “Cinderella Syndrome” continued to showcase Hayakawa’s powerful vocals within a polished heavy metal and hard rock framework. The 10-track album is especially notable for its incredible lineup of musicians. Reportedly, all main guitar tracks were handled by Takahiro “Tak” Matsumoto, who would later achieve superstardom with B’z.
Furthermore, the album features guest guitar appearances from established heroes like George Azuma (5X), Fumihiko Kitsutaka (Kinniku Shojo Tai), Kenji Kitajima, and Takayuki Hijikata. The top-tier rhythm section included skilled players like drummer Tohru “Rika” Suzuki.
The album blends powerful rockers like “The Wild One” and “Sleepless Night” with catchy, melodic tracks. One of its most representative songs is the single “Koi Wa No No No!,” which was penned by hitmakers Daikoh Nagato and Tomoko Aran, perfectly capturing Hayakawa’s appeal. Despite building a core following, Hayakawa’s musical activities reportedly ceased the following year, making this 1985 album a key snapshot of her brief but high-quality career.
