Exploring the solo work of Japanese keyboardist Yuki Nakajima, known for his contributions to bands like Eastern Orbit, brings us to his debut album, “The Prophecies-Heart Of Renaissance.” Released in 1982 on the Trash label with the catalog number 3F-25002, this 12-inch vinyl LP is a deep dive into the world of progressive rock.
This album stands as a true “synthesizer epic,” built around Nakajima’s intricate keyboard work and ambitious compositions. The conceptual nature is evident in the tracklist, which includes a “Prologue,” a three-part “Fatima Suite,” and an “Epilogue,” fitting the prog-rock style perfectly.
What elevates this album to legendary status among collectors is its incredible roster of guest musicians drawn from the elite of Japan’s hard rock and heavy metal scene. The album features the powerhouse drumming of both Munetaka Higuchi (Loudness) and Eiichi Miyanaga (Murasaki). Guitar duties on one track are handled by Kyoji Yamamoto (Bow Wow), with vocals on another by JJ (Murasaki). Musician and producer Masahide Sakuma also contributes significantly, playing both bass and synthesizer.
“The PropheSies-Heart Of Renaissance” (3F-25002) is a significant release for fans of Japanese progressive rock, showcasing Nakajima’s complex compositions and keyboard skills, brought to life by an all-star cast of musicians from the era’s top rock bands. The original release came complete with an obi strip and a 4-page booklet.
