Let’s spotlight the impressive debut solo album from influential Japanese guitarist Toshiya “Ran” Matsukawa, renowned for his work in X-Ray and Blizard. This is his 1985 release, “Burning,” presented on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with catalog number WTP-90366. This particular copy comes complete with its original obi strip.
Explicitly dedicated to the late Randy Rhoads, this 9-track, 12-inch vinyl LP serves as a powerful showcase for Matsukawa’s exceptional guitar skills. Released while he was a member of Blizard, “Burning” focuses heavily on instrumental compositions, allowing his virtuosic, neoclassical-influenced heavy metal style to shine.
