Here’s a look at the second “Small Scripture” (single) from the legendary Japanese heavy metal band Seikima-II: “Adam no Ringo” (アダムの林檎 – Adam’s Apple). Released on November 1, 1986, this 7-inch, 45 RPM vinyl (catalog number 07SH1842) was issued on the Fitzbeat label.

This single served as the lead cut from their third album, “From Hell With Love,” and showcases the band’s powerful, classic lineup.

The single features two tracks:
A: Adam no Ringo
B: Akumu no Sakebi (Shout of the Nightmare)

The title track, “Adam no Ringo,” is an iconic song in the band’s history. Composed by then-guitarist Jail Ohbashi (who would depart the band shortly after the album’s release), it’s a technical and tricky masterpiece. It’s famous for its bold intro riff, a driving verse rhythm reminiscent of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song,” and a highly skilled guitar solo featuring sweeps and tapping. The song also gained exposure as an insert song for the OVA “Wanna-Be’s” and remained a popular live staple long after Ohbashi’s departure.

The B-side, “Akumu no Sakebi,” is a powerful track written by the band’s original founder, Damian Hamada, and arranged by Ohbashi.

07SH1842 stands as an essential 7-inch, capturing Seikima-II’s classic sound and the significant musical contributions of Jail Ohbashi.
