Igniting the Scene: Trash’s ‘Burnin’ Rock’ (P-13137)

Today’s entry takes us to the Scandinavian hard rock scene of the mid-1980s with the album “Burnin’ Rock” by the Swedish band Trash. We are looking at the Japanese vinyl pressing released on the Atlantic label with the catalog number P-13137.

Issued in 1985, this 12-inch vinyl LP represents the band’s second studio album and a significant moment in their career, securing a major release on Atlantic. Trash delivered a high-energy brand of hard rock and heavy metal that fit perfectly with the era’s sound.

The album features a solid lineup including vocalist Tony-Roy Taylor, guitarists Gene Ball and Mike (Mojo) Mocadem, bassist Cay Coda, and drummer Hempo Hobo (who would later gain fame playing with John Norum). The tracklist is a testament to their straight-ahead rock philosophy, featuring songs like “Boogie Woogie Man,” “Rock Me…Rock You!,” and the title track.

What elevates this release is its production pedigree. “Burnin’ Rock” was produced by the renowned Max Norman, famous for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Loudness, ensuring a punchy and professional sound. Furthermore, the mastering was handled by the legendary Bob Ludwig. P-13137 is a fantastic collectible for fans of 80s melodic hard rock, capturing a talented Swedish band receiving top-tier studio treatment.
