The Queen of Shock Rock: Wendy O. Williams’ ‘Fuck ’N Roll (Live)’ (MVD6980LP)
Today’s entry captures the raw, unbridled energy of the legendary Plasmatics frontwoman. We are looking at the 2016 Record Store Day exclusive release of Fuck ’N Roll (Live) by Wendy O. Williams, released on MVD Audio with the catalog number MVD6980LP.
Live at L’Amour
Recorded on November 24, 1984, at the self-proclaimed “Rock Capitol of the World,” L’Amour in Brooklyn, New York, this EP documents a pivotal moment in Williams’ career. Bridging the gap between the punk chaos of the Plasmatics and a heavier metal sound, the set features a powerhouse band including guitarists Michael Ray and Wes Beech, bassist Greg Smith, and drummer T.C. Tolliver. The record features three extended tracks: the title track “Fuck And Roll,” “Ain’t None Of Your Business,” and the grooving “Bump And Grind.”
Unique Format and Limitation
This release is a true collector’s artifact. It is pressed as a Single Sided LP; the music occupies Side A, while Side B remains blank. Released exclusively for Record Store Day 2016, this pressing was strictly limited to 1,500 copies worldwide.
Engineering and Quality
Despite the raw nature of the live recording, care was taken for this vinyl transfer. The audio was mastered specifically for vinyl by Isaac Betesh at Greenhouse Audio. The runout grooves bear the signature “CJIII” alongside “WMM,” indicating that the lacquer was cut by Clint Holley III at Well Made Music, ensuring a high-quality transfer to the analogue format.
