This album has a unique history. Originally recorded in 1989, the project remained unreleased for nearly two decades. While the original sessions utilized a drum machine, this definitive version features a massive upgrade: Robert Sweet, the “Visual Timekeeper” of Christian metal legends Stryper, was brought in to re-record all the drum tracks in 2010. Sweet was given free rein to “let loose,” resulting in a thunderous performance that drives the album’s heavy metal assault. This version even includes “Area 51,” a rare studio drum solo from Sweet—his first since the early Roxx Regime days.

Musically, Beyond Hell’s Gate steers clear of the polished glam metal sound often associated with the era. Instead, it delivers gritty, neck-snapping traditional heavy metal fueled by Bill Menchen’s shredding guitars and Keith Miles’ powerful vocals. Fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and early Bloodgood will appreciate the straightforward, riff-heavy approach on tracks like “Baptized In Blood” and “Soldier Of Compromise.”
