Hometown Thrash: Flotsam And Jetsam’s ‘Live In Phoenix’ (CLO1319)
Today’s entry takes us into the mosh pit with one of Arizona’s most enduring metal exports. We are looking at the 2019 limited edition vinyl release of Live In Phoenix by Flotsam And Jetsam, released on Cleopatra Records with the catalog number CLO1319.
A Raw Homecoming
Recorded on July 18, 2003, at the Bash on Ash in their hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, this album captures the band in a raw and intimate setting. This recording documents a specific era of the band’s history, featuring the lineup of vocalist Eric A.K., guitarists Ed Carlson and Mark Simpson, bassist Jason Ward, and drummer Craig Nielsen. The setlist is a potent mix of speed and aggression, featuring undisputed thrash classics like “No Place For Disgrace” and the closing anthem “Hammerhead,” alongside heavier mid-career tracks like “Chemical Noose” and “Swatting At Flies.”
Format and Limitation
This release is designed for the die-hard collector. It is pressed on vibrant Red Vinyl, matching the intensity of the performance. This pressing was strictly limited to just 300 copies, making it a rare artifact for fans of the band.
Packaging
The release comes in a standard LP jacket, serving as a straightforward document of a sweaty, high-energy night in the desert heat.
