The Queen of Metal Live: Lita Ford’s ‘Live & Deadly’ (CLO 2632)
Today’s entry captures a raw and intimate performance from the Hollywood queen of arena rock. We are looking at the vinyl release of Live & Deadly by Lita Ford, released on Cleopatra Records with the catalog number CLO 2632.
Intimate and Explosive
Recorded live in 2000 at one of Lita’s favorite local venues, this album offers a stark contrast to her massive stadium shows. The recording captures the atmosphere of a smaller club (“watering hole”), allowing for a gritty and energetic performance that highlights her roots. The setlist is packed with her finest hits, including Kiss Me Deadly, Hungry, and Shot Of Poison. Notable for fans are the specific arrangements: The Ripper is performed as an instrumental, and her blockbuster ballad Close My Eyes Forever is delivered as a powerful solo performance without a duet partner. The mix is praised for its balance, giving every instrument plenty of punch.
Format
This release transforms the live document into a collector’s item, pressed on vibrant Purple Vinyl.
Hype Sticker
New copies are adorned with a hype sticker on the shrink wrap, which celebrates her legacy from The Runaways to her successful solo career and highlights the “astonishing energy” of this concert.
