High Octane History: Pat Travers Band ‘Live At Reading 1980’ (CLO 5083)
Today’s entry takes us back to one of the most prestigious rock festivals in the world during a peak era for guitar rock. We are looking at the 2023 limited edition release of Live At Reading 1980 by the Pat Travers Band, released on Purple Pyramid with the catalog number CLO 5083.
A Guitar Hero at His Peak
Recorded at the height of the band’s popularity, this set captures a powerhouse performance at the UK’s legendary Reading Festival. The band was firing on all cylinders, delivering a setlist that reads like a greatest hits collection for the era. It features high-energy renditions of fan favorites like Life In London, the blues standard Born Under A Bad Sign, and his absolute signature hits Boom Boom Out Go The Lights and Snortin’ Whiskey. It is a raw and electric document of 80s hard rock.
Format and Packaging
This release is tailored for collectors, pressed on a unique translucent Coke Bottle Green vinyl. It is a Limited Edition pressing, a fact highlighted by the hype sticker found on the shrink wrap. The visual presentation perfectly complements the fiery blues-rock energy contained within the grooves.
