Unlike the thunderous hard rock of his namesake band, Solitary offers exactly what the title suggests: an intimate, acoustic-driven collection. Originally released in small quantities during tours around 2008, this album allows Don Dokken to explore a softer, darker, and more atmospheric direction. It strips away the high-gain distortion to focus on his melodic vocal delivery and sophisticated songwriting, closer in spirit to a singer-songwriter record than a metal album.
