American Power Metal Fury: Cage’s ‘Science Of Annihilation’ (PSRLP010)
Today’s entry features a crushing slab of American power metal from San Diego’s finest. We are looking at the 2010 limited vinyl edition of Science Of Annihilation by Cage, released on the German label Pure Steel Records with the catalog number PSRLP010.
Painkiller-Worship at its Finest
Cage has long been celebrated for carrying the torch of “Painkiller-era” Judas Priest, characterized by blistering speed, shredding dual guitars, and the ear-shattering falsetto of vocalist Sean Peck. Science Of Annihilation is widely regarded as one of their fastest and most aggressive albums.
The tracklist reads like a comic book fan’s heavy metal dream (Peck is a known comic collector), with tracks like “Scarlet Witch” and “Spirit Of Vengeance”. The album opens with the relentless “Planet Crusher” and includes the straightforward anthem “Speed Kills,” delivering exactly what the title promises.
Collector’s Details
Pure Steel Records gave this album the deluxe treatment it deserved with a Double LP pressing housed in a gatefold sleeve. This specific entry is the ultra-rare Orange Vinyl edition.
The pressing was strictly limited to 525 hand-numbered copies in total, split as follows:
Copies 001–100: Orange Vinyl (This entry – the rarest variant) Copies 101–525: Black VinylOwning one of the first 100 copies makes this a significant trophy for collectors of US Power Metal.
