Greek Underground Steel: Metalmorfosis’ Self-Titled 12" (MM1)
Today’s entry takes us to the fervent heavy metal underground of Greece. We are looking at the 2006 self-titled 12-inch single by Metalmorfosis, self-released by the band with the catalog number MM1.
Pure Hellenic Heavy Metal
Greece has long been a stronghold for traditional heavy metal, and Metalmorfosis is a prime example of this dedication. Released during the mid-2000s when the “New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal” was just starting to bubble up globally, this release captures a band keeping the 80s spirit alive.
The record features two tracks of pure, unadulterated steel. “Show Me The Way” on Side A offers melodic, driving metal, while the B-side, “Ultra Metal,” serves as a defiant anthem for the genre itself. Fronted by Nick Banger (vocals/guitar), and backed by George Dynamite (bass) and Steve Breaker (drums), the trio delivers a sound that is raw, passionate, and deeply rooted in the classics.
Collector’s Details
As a private press release, MM1 is a true cult collectible. It was pressed in a strictly limited run of 350 copies on black vinyl. Despite being a DIY release, the presentation is high quality; a notable feature for collectors is the embossed band logo on the front cover, adding a premium tactile element to this rare slice of Greek metal history.
