Deepening the Doom: Rose’s ‘Healing’ Reissue (RRV2007)
Today’s entry continues our look at the heavy side of the Retroactive Records “Metal Icon Series.” We are examining the 2024 vinyl reissue of “Healing” by Rose (led by Randy Rose). This limited edition LP carries the catalog number RRV2007.
Originally released in 1993, this album served as the follow-up to “Sacrificium.” While Randy Rose was known for his work in Mad At The World, this solo project dives deep into doom metal and heavy hard rock territory. The influence of Black Sabbath, Danzig, and Trouble is front and center, with critics praising the album for its “full-on blitzkrieg assault.”
The music is defined by the crushing, doom-style riffing of guitarist Steve Kumada (credited as Steve Kamanda in some notes), creating a heavy, pulsating atmosphere. Tracks like “Seeds Of Sorrow” and the title track showcase this riff-heavy approach.
This 2024 remaster offers a premium experience for collectors. It is pressed on “Red-Rose Swirl” heavyweight vinyl and is strictly limited to just 200 copies. The package includes a 12×12 insert with lyrics, band photos, and a special message from Randy Rose himself. RRV2007 is a vital reissue for fans of 90s Christian metal who appreciate the darker, doom-laden side of the genre.
