NWOBHM Royalty Reissued: Girlschool’s ‘Hit And Run’ on Magenta Vinyl (RDEG-LP-881E)

Today’s entry celebrates the queens of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with a stunning 2024 reissue of Girlschool’s classic second album, Hit And Run. Released in the US on September 20, 2024, by Renaissance Records, this limited edition LP carries the catalog number RDEG-LP-881E.

Originally unleashed in 1981, Hit And Run remains the band’s most commercially successful album, famously reaching No. 5 on the UK charts and earning gold certification in Canada. It captured the classic lineup of Kim McAuliffe, Kelly Johnson, Enid Williams, and Denise Dufort at the peak of their powers, delivering a high-energy blend of punk aggression and heavy metal precision that allowed them to headline arenas and support giants like Black Sabbath and Rush.

This 2024 edition is a treat for collectors. It features the 2020 remastered audio pressed on beautiful 180g Magenta Marbled vinyl. The packaging has been upgraded to a gatefold sleeve that includes “lost photos” and lyric sheets, offering a fresh look at the band’s golden era.

The tracklist is a non-stop barrage of hard rock anthems, including the driving opener C’Mon Let’s Go, the catchy title track Hit And Run, and the fan-favorite Yeah Right. Notably, this edition also includes the track Please Don’t Touch (originally a collaboration with Motörhead under the name Headgirl) as the closing track on Side B.

RDEG-LP-881E is a vibrant celebration of one of the most important albums in British metal history. It combines the raw, infectious energy of the original 1981 recordings with premium modern packaging, making it an essential addition to any hard rock vinyl collection.
