A Modern Return: Mötley Crüe’s ‘Cancelled’ EP (00843930115600)
Today’s entry brings us right up to the present day with a 2024 release from the bad boys of rock, Mötley Crüe. We are looking at their limited edition EP titled “Cancelled,” released in Europe on Big Machine Records with the catalog number 00843930115600.
Issued on October 4, 2024, this 12-inch, 45 RPM vinyl comes in a striking Red & Black Splatter colorway, housed in a sleeve featuring embossed TV screen details. This release is historically significant for the band as it marks their first major studio output featuring new guitarist John 5, who stepped in following the retirement of founding member Mick Mars.
Produced by their longtime collaborator Bob Rock (who helmed their massive “Dr. Feelgood” album), the EP captures the band looking to prove they still have plenty of fight left. The release features three tracks on Side A, which are repeated on Side B: the title track “Cancelled,” the heavy “Dogs Of War,” and a raucous cover of the Beastie Boys classic “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).”
The cover song is particularly notable for featuring guest backing vocals from Dexter Holland and Noodles of The Offspring. 00843930115600 stands as a crucial document of Mötley Crüe’s modern era, showcasing their new lineup and enduring energy in a high-quality physical format.
