Today we focus on the powerful debut album from the hard rock band 5X, fronted by the legendary Japanese vocalist Carmen Maki. This is their self-titled album, “Carmen Maki’s 5X,” released on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with the catalog number WTP-90213.
Issued in 1983, this 12-inch vinyl LP marked Maki’s powerful return to the forefront of the Japanese rock scene after her influential work in the 70s. Teaming up with the band 5X, this album unleashed a potent blend of hard rock and heavy metal, perfectly suited for the burgeoning J-Metal era.
“Carmen Maki’s 5X” delivers a high-energy collection of tracks built around Maki’s incredibly powerful and soulful vocals. The music is driving, guitar-centric hard rock, often infused with bluesy undertones, showcasing excellent musicianship from the band.
