Exploring the solo catalog of “Jet Finger” guitarist Atsushi Yokozeki brings us to his 1989 album, “Dinosaur – Remembrance Of 900,000,000 Years Ago.” This CD was released on October 1, 1989, via the Triad label (Nippon Columbia) with the catalog number CA-3998. The copy highlighted here is a promotional sample pressing.
As the title suggests, “Dinosaur” is a conceptual hard rock album built around Yokozeki’s formidable guitar skills. The 9-track album, featuring titles like “Wake on the Earth,” “Violent Waves Of Dinosaur,” “Active Volcano,” and “The Glacial Epoch,” showcases his instrumental prowess and compositional vision, painting a prehistoric sonic landscape.
To bring this vision to life, Yokozeki, who handles all guitars, assembled a skilled lineup. This included the powerful drumming of Soul Toul (Toru Sagawa) on most tracks, along with bassists Keiichi Shiono and Masao Seki, and other contributors like pianist Satoshi Mishiba and vocalist Yumi Murata on one track.
CA-3998 stands as another impressive showcase of Yokozeki’s guitar-centric hard rock, offering a conceptual journey focused on his virtuosic playing.
