Let’s focus on the US reissue of classic material from Japan’s “Heavy Metal Hunters,” Metalucifer. This is the 2006 enhanced CD release, “Heavy Metal Drill,” issued on R.I.P. Records with the catalog number D&L 020.
This album gathers the band’s quintessential early material, originally recorded and mixed in 1996, capturing their raw, authentic, and passionate ode to traditional heavy metal and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Produced by Gezolucifer and the band, it’s a pure, riff-driven assault.
The album features 9 classic tracks, including the definitive anthem “Heavy Metal Is My Way,” the title track “Heavy Metal Drill,” “Heavy Metal Hunter (Part 2),” and “Wolf Man.”
This 2006 reissue is particularly valuable as it comes packed with bonus material. It includes two unreleased mixes: “Fallen Angel” and a version of “Heavy Metal Drill” featuring Samm (of Sabbat/Magnesium) on vocals. Furthermore, as an enhanced CD, it contains the music video for their signature song, “Heavy Metal Is My Way.”
D&L 020 serves as a fantastic collection of Metalucifer’s foundational work, augmented with rare and essential bonus content for dedicated fans of true heavy metal.
