A pure distillation of old-school heavy metal, this entry focuses on the 2001 album from Japan’s Metalucifer, “Heavy Metal Chainsaw.” This CD was released by the dedicated German underground label Iron Pegasus Records, carrying the catalog number I.P. 021.
As the second full-length album from this side project, led by Geniezoluzifer (Gezol of Sabbat), “Heavy Metal Chainsaw” is an uncompromising celebration of traditional heavy metal. It’s packed with raw, catchy riffs and anthemic choruses, all deeply inspired by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Produced by Geniezoluzifer himself, the album was recorded in both Germany and Japan. It features the core lineup of Geniezoluzifer on bass and vocals, Tormentharon on drums, and a trio of guitarists (Elizablumi, Elizabigore, and Elizaveat) delivering the classic metal assault.
The album’s 8 tracks are a testament to their singular focus, including fan favorites like the title track, “Flight Of Iron Pegasus,” “Heavy Metal Samurai,” “Heavy Metal Revolution,” and the instrumental “Metalucifer (Zwei).”
I.P. 021 is a quintessential release for fans of “true” heavy metal, showcasing Metalucifer’s infectious passion and unwavering dedication to the genre.
