A fascinating and unique collaboration from the Japanese heavy metal scene is the focus for this entry: the 2008 album “Madam MadaM.” This CD, released on March 26, 2008, via the Soundholic label (catalog number TKCS-85188), presents a project fronted by the mysterious female metal vocalist Madam Rey. This particular copy includes the original obi strip.
What makes this album a must-listen for J-Metal fans is the heavy involvement of legendary “Jet Finger” guitarist Atsushi Yokozeki, who is prominently featured. Yokozeki not only provides his signature virtuosic guitar playing but also served as the album’s sound producer and contributed to the songwriting.
Produced by Madam Rey herself, the 10-track album blends a delicate, female vocal approach with a “hot metal heart,” resulting in a unique hard rock and heavy metal sound. The album is backed by an all-star lineup of musicians, including the powerful Soul Toul (Toru Sagawa) on drums and Masao Seki on bass, creating a top-tier musical foundation for Rey’s vocals and Yokozeki’s guitar.
Adding to the album’s intrigue, Madam Rey was later revealed to be the wife of the famous former professional baseball player, Yasushi Tao. “Madam MadaM” (TKCS-85188) stands as a high-quality, unique release, notable for its mysterious origins and the powerful collaboration between a new vocalist and a true guitar legend.
