Lynch Control: George Lynch’s ‘Kill All Control’ (KICP 1526)
Today’s entry spotlights the 2011 solo studio album from legendary guitarist George Lynch, best known for his influential work with Dokken and Lynch Mob. We are looking at the Japanese pressing of “Kill All Control,” released on the Nexus label (King Records) with the catalog number KICP 1526. This particular copy includes the original obi strip.
Released on June 22, 2011, this album was originally conceived as a follow-up to his Souls of We project but evolved into a solo effort featuring a rotating cast of powerful vocalists, including London LeGrand, Will Martin, Keith St. John, and Marq Torien.
“Kill All Control” is often cited by fans as a return to form, blending the razor-sharp riffing and technical wizardry of his 80s peak with modern hard rock grooves and strong melodic sensibilities. It stands out in his solo discography for its energy and focus, offering a mix of heavy riffs and catchy hooks.
A massive highlight for long-time fans is the closing track, “Son Of Scary.” As the title suggests, it serves as a spiritual sequel to the legendary Dokken instrumental “Mr. Scary,” utilizing a similar structural foundation and chord progression to let Lynch unleash a new barrage of signature fretwork.
KICP 1526 is a high-octane release for guitar enthusiasts, capturing a master of the instrument delivering a heavy, melodic, and satisfying hard rock album.
