A Dimension of Their Own: Aerosmith’s ‘Music From Another Dimension!’ (SICP 3740)
Today’s entry focuses on a significant late-career release from American hard rock giants Aerosmith. We are looking at the 2012 Japanese pressing of their fifteenth studio album, “Music From Another Dimension!”, released on Sony Records Int’l with the catalog number SICP 3740. This copy comes complete with its original obi strip.
Released on November 7, 2012, this album was a major event for fans as it marked the band’s first studio album consisting of all-new original material in over a decade (since 2001’s “Just Push Play”). It features the classic lineup of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer delivering a sprawling collection of 15 tracks that touch on various eras of their sound, from the gritty hard rock of “Luv XXX” and “Street Jesus” to the polished ballads like “What Could Have Been Love.”
For collectors, this Japanese edition is particularly desirable due to the inclusion of two exclusive bonus tracks not found on the standard international releases. Tracks 16 and 17 are covers: a funky take on The Temptations’ “Shakey Ground” and a version of the Mose Allison classic “I’m Not Talkin’.”
SICP 3740 is a comprehensive package for Aerosmith fans, offering the full album experience along with rare bonus material and Japanese liner notes by the renowned Masa Ito. It captures the Boston bad boys proving they could still deliver the goods well into their fourth decade as a band.
