A special, limited item from the Sapporo-based heavy metal band Eliza is the focus for this entry. We are looking at their 7-inch flexi-disc, “Fly To The Night,” released on the independent Fasten Up Records label with the catalog number FASTEN-011.
Issued on May 15, 1988, this single-sided, 33 ⅓ RPM flexi-disc was not a commercial release. It was a “Special Limited Edition (For Fans Only)” item.
This flexi was famously given away for free at a “sonosheet (flexi-disc) distribution gig” held at Studio Messe in Sapporo, making it an incredibly rare and sought-after collector’s item, deeply tied to the band’s local scene.
The disc features one track, the titular “Fly To The Night,” which captures the band’s classic, orthodox heavy metal sound from their peak 80s period. FASTEN-011 stands as a testament to the band’s dedicated fanbase and the DIY spirit of the Japanese independent metal scene.
