A rare collectible from the Japanese-American glam rock band Cats In Boots is the focus for this entry. We are looking at their 7-inch flexi-disc, “Heaven On A Heartbeat,” released via Rockin’f magazine with the catalog number E-8216.
Issued in 1988, this single-sided, 33 ⅓ RPM flexi-disc was not a commercial single but a free supplement (“furoku”) included with the popular rock magazine.
The disc features one track, the self-produced “Heaven On A Heartbeat.” It captures the band’s classic lineup, featuring Joel Ellis on vocals and Japanese guitarist Takashi “Jam” Ohhashi (ex-Seikima-II), delivering their signature blend of glam and hard rock. Recorded at Jam Sound Factory, this track perfectly showcases the sound they were establishing with their “Demonstration” mini-album around the same time.
As a magazine-exclusive flexi-disc, E-8216 is a highly sought-after item for collectors, documenting the band’s early promotion in Japan.
