A 1978 7-inch single from the early, pop-idol phase of the band Lazy is the focus for this entry. We are looking at “Moero Rock ‘n’ Roll Fire” (Burn, Rock ‘n’ Roll Fire), released on the RCA label with the catalog number RVS-1130.
This 45 RPM vinyl captures the band continuing their path as pop-rock idols, a direction heavily guided by their label. This is evidenced by the songwriting team: both tracks were composed and arranged by the superstar hitmaker Shunichi Tokura, with lyrics by Masami Sugiyama.
The single features two tracks:
A: Moero Rock ‘n’ Roll Fire
B: Futari no Takarajima (Treasure Island for Two)
This release is another fascinating document of Lazy’s pop era. It showcases the polished, mainstream sound they were marketed with, which is especially significant for collectors as it features future heavy metal legends Akira Takasaki and Munetaka Higuchi performing in a style completely different from the one that would make them famous with Loudness. The original release came in a company sleeve with a printed lyric insert.
