A special supplemental release from the Japanese progressive rock scene is the focus for this entry. We are looking at the 7-inch flexi-disc “Follow You” by the band Vienna, which carries the catalog number E-8181.
This flexi-disc was not a commercial single but was included as a free supplement (“furoku”) in the May 1988 issue of the popular Japanese rock magazine, Rockin’f.
Vienna was a Japanese progressive rock supergroup, featuring members from other notable bands in the scene like Novela, Gerard, and Outerlimits. They were known for their technical, keyboard-heavy, and melodic sound, often with hard rock or metal tendencies.
“Follow You” showcases this style, offering fans a unique track by this collection of talented musicians. As a magazine supplement, E-8181 is a fascinating and sought-after collector’s item, capturing a key band from the 80s Japanese progressive rock movement.
