A key single from Show-Ya’s 1987 activities is the focus for this entry. We are looking at their 6th single, “Kodoku no Labyrinth” (Labyrinth of Solitude), released on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with the catalog number RT07-2020.
Issued on October 26, 1987, this 7-inch, 45 RPM vinyl served as a lead-in single for their album “IMMIGRATION,” which was released shortly after.
This single is notable for continuing the collaboration with a powerhouse professional songwriting team, a strategy the band used for several singles during this period. Both tracks on this release were written by lyricist Yasushi Akimoto and legendary composer Kyohei Tsutsumi, with arrangements handled by Makoto Matsushita.
The single features two tracks:
A: Kodoku no Labyrinth
B: Uso da to Itte yo Moon Light
RT07-2020 captures Show-Ya during their commercially successful mid-career, showcasing their hard rock sound filtered through the lens of Japan’s top pop songwriters.
