Burning with Passion: Earthshaker’s ‘Honoo Ni Mi Wo Kogashite’ (RT07-2042)
Let’s focus on a 1987 single from Japanese hard rock veterans Earthshaker. This is “Honoo Ni Mi Wo Kogashite” (Scorched by the Flame), released on December 5, 1987, via the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI) with the catalog number RT07-2042.
This 7-inch, 45 RPM vinyl captures the band during their sophisticated Eastworld era, following their transition from the Nexus label. The A-side, written by vocalist Masafumi “Marcy” Nishida, showcases the band’s signature melodic strength, delivering an emotional rock track characteristic of their mature late-80s sound.
The single features two tracks:
A: Honoo Ni Mi Wo Kogashite
B: Garage
The B-side, “Garage,” offers a contrast to the A-side, providing fans with a non-album track (at the time) or a specific coupling track that rounds out the release. RT07-2042 is a key collectible for fans of Earthshaker’s later 80s output, representing their continued ability to craft compelling melodic hard rock under a major label.
