Charting the Journey: Show-Ya’s ‘Immigration’ (RT28-5023)
Today we continue exploring the powerful discography of Japan’s leading all-female hard rock band, Show-Ya. This entry focuses on their third studio album, “Immigration,” released with the catalog number RT28-5023, promo/sample pressing.
Issued in 1987 on the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI), this 12-inch vinyl LP followed their successful early albums “Masquerade Show” and “Queendom.” By this point, Show-Ya had firmly established themselves as a major force in the Japanese rock scene, known for their high-energy performances and skillful musicianship.
“Immigration” showcases the band further honing their signature sound: a potent blend of powerful, melodic hard rock. The album features driving guitar riffs, prominent and atmospheric keyboards, a rock-solid rhythm section, and the commanding, instantly recognizable vocals that lead the charge. Produced with the polish expected of a major label release in the late 80s, “Immigration” delivers a collection of well-crafted, anthemic rock songs, demonstrating the band’s growing confidence and songwriting prowess.
RT28-5023 captures Show-Ya hitting their stride, building upon the foundations laid by their first two albums. It’s a strong representation of their sound during this successful period and remains an essential album for fans of the band and classic 80s Japanese hard rock.
