Spanish Speed Metal Attack: Iron Curtain’s ‘Road To Hell’ (Heavy Forces 011)
Today’s entry spotlights a modern classic from the Spanish underground heavy metal scene. We are looking at the 2012 debut album Road To Hell by Iron Curtain, released on the German label Heavy Forces Records with the catalog number Heavy Forces 011.
Hailing from Murcia, Spain, Iron Curtain has established themselves as defenders of the old-school faith. This debut album is a dirty, high-octane tribute to the rawest sounds of the early 80s. Their style is heavily influenced by the gritty rock ‘n’ roll of Motörhead and Tank, mixed with the speed metal aggression of early Exciter and Razor.
The tracklist is a non-stop barrage of leather-and-studs anthems. Songs like Taste My Whip and Scream & Shout deliver punchy riffs and rough vocals, while the title track (implied by the album theme) and Black Fist keep the energy incredibly high. This release also includes a special treat on the B-side: the track Pacto Con El Metal, which is sung in their native Spanish and appears here as a bonus track not found on all versions.
For collectors, this specific pressing is the rarest variant of the release. It is the White Vinyl edition, which was strictly limited to just 100 copies worldwide. Heavy Forces Records is known for high-quality underground releases, and this limited LP captures the band at their hungry, aggressive beginning.
