Resurrecting US Metal: Villain’s ‘Time Machine’ Compilation (HE 250204)
Today’s entry digs into the archives of American heavy metal with the comprehensive compilation Time Machine by Villain. Released in 2004 by the German label Hellion Records, this double LP set carries the catalog number HE 250204.
This release serves as the definitive collection for the band, effectively acting as an expanded reissue of their highly regarded 1986 EP, Only Time Will Tell. The first record (Sides A and B) features the complete studio EP, showcasing their melodic yet powerful US power metal sound on tracks like Kamikazee, She’ll Make You Fall, and a notable heavy metal cover of Queen’s Tie Your Mother Down.
The second record (Sides C and D) offers a deep dive into the band’s history with rare archival material. It includes live recordings of tracks like Don’t You Forget It and Power Of The Night, alongside raw rehearsal tapes of Time To Fight and If You Can’t Rock.
For collectors, this edition is particularly appealing. It is a limited edition pressing on transparent purple vinyl. HE 250204 provides a complete picture of a band that, while obscure to the mainstream, holds a cult status among 80s metal enthusiasts for their high-energy delivery.
