Return to the Island: Neverland’s ‘Ticket To Island’ (K28A-270)
Today we revisit the Japanese heavy metal band Neverland, focusing on their second studio album, “Ticket To Island,” released on King Records with the catalog number K28A-270.
Likely issued in 1985, this 12-inch vinyl LP followed their 1984 debut, “Landing on Island.” As their sophomore effort, “Ticket To Island” finds the band building upon the melodic heavy metal sound established on their first release. Listeners can expect the characteristic J-Metal blend of powerful riffs, soaring vocals, skillful guitar work (potentially twin leads), and driving rhythms, all infused with strong, memorable melodies.
Neverland was a significant band within the mid-80s scene, not least because its members went on to contribute to other well-regarded Japanese metal acts. This album captures the band further developing their musical identity and delivering another dose of high-quality melodic heavy metal during the genre’s peak era in Japan.
K28A-270 is an important release for fans of classic 80s Japanese heavy metal. “Ticket To Island” showcases Neverland’s continued musical journey and stands as a solid example of the powerful and melodic sound that defined the scene.
