A very rare item from the Japanese underground glam/punk scene is the focus for this entry. We are looking at the 7-inch flexi-disc “Street Girl” by the band Harlem Deads, released on the Rose Label (catalog number ROSE004, though some versions list ‘none’).
Issued in 1989, this was not a commercial single. It was a “tour feebie flexi” (hi-baihin), a promotional item given away for free at the band’s live shows, making it an extremely sought-after item for collectors.
This single-sided flexi-disc features one track, the titular “Street Girl.” It captures the band’s raw, independent sound, a potent blend of glam aesthetics, hard rock energy, and punk attitude that was characteristic of the late 80s Rose Label scene.
As a non-commercial, live giveaway, “Street Girl” stands as a rare snapshot of Harlem Deads’ career, documenting their connection to their fanbase and the vibrant underground scene of the era.
