A special collectible from the 80s Japanese metal scene is the focus for this entry: the 7-inch flexi-disc “Are You Free Tonight < ’86 Metal Warriors Version >” by the band Reaction.
Released in December 1986, this flexi-disc (catalog number E-7790) was not a commercial single but a free supplement (“furoku”) included with the popular rock magazine, Rockin’f.
This single-sided, 45 RPM disc features one exclusive track, a special version of “Are You Free Tonight,” titled the “’86 Metal Warriors Version.” It captures the classic lineup of Junya Katoh (vocals), Yasuyuki Saitoh (guitar), Tetsuyuki Sorimachi (bass), and Yasuhiro Umezawa (drums) delivering their signature high-energy, aggressive blend of heavy, speed, and power metal.
As a magazine-exclusive release, E-7790 is a highly sought-after item for Reaction collectors, documenting a unique recording from their peak 80s period.
