Here’s a look at the 4th single from Japanese all-female hard rock band Show-Ya, “Sono Ato de Koroshitai” (その後で殺したい). Released on January 22, 1987, via the Eastworld label (Toshiba EMI), this 7-inch, 45 RPM vinyl carries the catalog number WTP-17925.
This single is highly significant as it marked the first time the band collaborated with the legendary professional songwriting team of Yasushi Akimoto (lyrics) and Kyohei Tsutsumi (music). The tracks were given a polished, powerful arrangement by Makoto Matsushita, a collaboration that would continue for several more releases.
The single features two tracks:
A: Sono Ato de Koroshitai
B: Yoru ga Kuru Made Nemuritai (I Want to Sleep Until Night Comes)
This release captures Show-Ya’s shift towards a more polished, commercial pop-rock sound, expertly crafted by some of the biggest hitmakers in the Japanese music industry, while still retaining the band’s hard rock energy. WTP-17925 stands as a key single from this commercially successful period of their career.
