A special collectible item from the 80s Japanese glam rock scene is the focus for this entry: the 7-inch flexi-disc “Flaming Red” by Killer May. This release, carrying the catalog number E-8158, was not a commercial single.
Issued in April 1988, this single-sided, 33 ⅓ RPM flexi-disc was a free supplement (“furoku”) included with the popular Japanese rock magazine, Rockin’f.
The disc features one track, “Flaming Red,” a song that perfectly captures the band’s signature blend of glam, hard rock, and heavy metal. Produced by the band, it showcases their raw energy and style.
This release is historically significant as it features the classic Killer May lineup, including guitarist Emma (Hideaki Kikuchi) and drummer Annie (Eiji Kikuchi), who would later go on to achieve massive success with the legendary rock band The Yellow Monkey.
E-8158 stands as a highly sought-after item for collectors, documenting the band’s 80s era and their connection to the influential Rockin’f magazine.
